Majoring in both Engineering and Business, I work to combine Engineering Problem Solving with Business Development to create and implement Effective Solutions.

About Me

Hello! I’m Dan, a student at UC Berkeley majoring in EECS and Business. I really enjoy digging into tough problems, especially navigating the initial ambiguity where the path forward isn’t clear and it’s largely about learning and troubleshooting. A lot of this mindset comes from years of tinkering with Arch Linux, where I often have to be resourceful in order to fix my poor computer after my latest customization imploded it! I really like clever solutions that simplify things for people, whether that’s rethinking a user experience to be radically easier or writing a script/agentic workflow to automate a time-consuming task.

My goal is to build well designed and managed institutions capable of transforming both small and large scale communities. I believe these kind of institutions not only need engineering skills to identify core problems (or opportunities) and design technical solutions, but also business knowledge to design the institutional framework required for these solutions to have a lasting impact. I’m especially interested in applying this approach in areas like education and finance to build the kinds of sustainable systems that become engines for opportunity and community growth.

Some of my favorite books are Why Nations Fail, Plato’s Republic, and Weapons of Math Destruction. I’d love to chat about any of them, so feel free to send me an email!

When I’m not working, you can usually find me reading, fixing my Linux setup (after it inevitably breaks in my quest to get sub 8 second boot), or playing Poker and MTG.

Sep-Jan 2025 | Berkeley, CA
Data Analyst Intern
Flux Robotics
  • Built an Excel value-based pricing model for 5 procedures for US/EU hospitals, and segmented per-case costs.
  • Expanded the model in Python, and trained a linear regression model to calibrate pricing assumptions in numpy.
  • Quantified savings and priced Flux 2, demonstrating up to 41% lower per-procedure cost vs baseline.
Sep-Dec 2024 | Berkeley, CA
Data Analyst Researcher
Berkeley Nanotech URAP
  • Made a predictive pricing model over 10 biosensor designs using linear regression (R2=0.69) to quantify price drivers.
  • Isolated design attributes to rank cost impact and elasticity, producing interpretable coefficients and driver charts.
  • Delivered a recalibration framework that uses new market data to update prices, run what-ifs, and guide quoting.
Sep-Dec 2024 | Berkeley, CA
Consultant
Blue Origin
  • Led 4-person team to draft 5-year plan that targets $3B free cash flow by 2030.
  • Modeled 3 launch scenarios; projected $2.4B revenue growth and 21% capex savings over 5 years.
  • Presented to stakeholders; received praise for clear, actionable analysis, and quantified financial impact.
May-Jul 2024 | Highland Heights, KY
Full Stack Software Engineering Intern
ReNewport & NKU
  • Built an air quality dashboard in RShiny/SQL, capable of visualizing 6x more sensors than current resources.
  • Made real-time maps with Leaflet and trend charts with ggplot2 to improve awareness for city residents and planners.
  • Created heatmap algorithms using interpolation and regression on sensor and wind data to allow for precise mapping.
  • Partnered with 3 advocacy groups to ship 20+ features, prioritize accessibility, and align tools to community needs.
May-Jul 2023 | Highland Heights, KY
ML Researcher
NKU Undergraduate Research
  • Trained an audio classifier (Mel+FFT+SVM) to detect gunshots and sirens at 98% accuracy for deaf users in warzones.
  • Built a portable Arduino/C++ wearable running the model locally, allowing for real-time alerts in warzone conditions.
  • Raised field detection by 35% in warzone tests, improving alerts and reliability in noisy, on-the-ground conditions.
  • Presented findings at VentureWell DEBUT to assess impact, gather feedback, and scope pathways beyond research.
